A turtle, ancient as the stories hidden beneath its shell, peers from its armored shelter. Its eyes reflect the depth of the forest floor, knowing and patient. It rests among tangled grasses, its shell a patchwork of time-worn battles and mossy quietude, a slow traveler through the undergrowth.
